El grammaticus como filólogo: el Lamia de Angelo Poliziano

    En 1492 el florentino Angelo Poliziano presentó su curso sobre los Primeros analíticos de Aristóteles con una praelectio titulada Lamia. Poliziano, que ya había innovado en este género con sus Silvae, toma esta oportunidad para volver sobre la tensión entre filósofos “profesionales” del ámbito universitario y especialistas en los studia humanitatis, y realiza simultáneamente una defensa de la filosofía y de la gramática como arte de la interpretación de textos del pasado. Proponemos una nueva traducción al español del Lamia y un análisis de la manera en la que esta praelectio representa una intervención clave de los conflictos principales del ambiente intelectual florentino del Quattrocento. En particular, destacamos la caracterización negativa de Poliziano de quienes se presentan como especialistas en filosofía pero son incapaces de entender la función de la interpretación de los textos que posibilita el conocimiento del grammaticus como un experto en la producción de comentarios, y la forma en la que el texto replantea la pregunta por la naturaleza misma del quehacer filosófico.

    In 1492 the Florentine Angelo Poliziano presented his course on Aristotle's First Analytics with a praelectio entitled Lamia. Poliziano, who had already innovated in this genre with his Silvae, takes this opportunity to reappraise the tension between "professional" philosophers in the Universities and specialists in the studia humanitatis, and simultaneously defends philosophy and grammar as art of the interpretation of texts from the past. We propose a new Spanish translation of the Lamia and an analysis of the way in which this praelectio represents a key intervention in the main conflicts of the Florentine intellectual environment of the Quattrocento. We highlight Poliziano's negative characterization of those who present themselves as specialists in philosophy but are incapable of understanding the function of the interpretation of texts that comes from the knowledge of the grammaticus as an expert in the production of comments. Also, we consider the way in which the Lamia restates the question about the very nature of the philosophical endeavor.
