The present work shows an exploratory approach of the publicist vocabulary adopted in the Catalan stamental assemblies. In this way, some interpretative possibilities have been identified for a review of the parliamentary sources under the key of the legal institutions and the model established with them in the Fourteenth Century. The understanding of political pactism is built out of the delimitation of legal terminology that remains in permanent discussion in the courts, with which the sovereign is submitted to the coherence of values that preached the defence of the land and the common good. All these indications are consequences of a political and economic context, that led to drastic changes in the sense of government and of the authority sought by the king in the course of that century.
