Although the voyeur as a painting gender begins to expand during the Barroch, there is evidence that insinuates its presence since the Quattrocento. It is linked to diegetic situations, whose origin dates from another tradition which is broader: the nude, though the purpose of this article concentrates, in a first part, on the analysis of the spectator’s role in the gallery space. Without underestimating some of the most outstanding artistic creations linked to that practice along the period that follows the Quattrocento, the second part is dedicated to the posthumous work of one of the vanguard authors of the XX Century: Marcel Duchamp
