Un genre peut en cacher un autre : une histoire de détournement

    In this paper, we wonder how interact facts of language and genres in which they find themselves. In a cross-disciplinary analysis (stylistic, rhetoric and pragmatic), we show how a procedural model, which serves as the starting point for the analysis, can be diverted by its absorption in a fictional text (genre of speech second, according to Bakhtine) in order to mean something other than the statement of simple instructions. In the novel studied (Des hommes illustres, by Jean Rouaud), the effect generated on the reader occurs mainly through the solicitation of pathos, facilitated by the use of the 2nd person of imperative.

    Dans cet article, on s’interroge sur la manière dont interagissent les faits de langue et les genres dans lesquels ils s’inscrivent. Dans le cadre d’une analyse compositionnelle (stylistique, rhétorique et pragmatique), on montre de quelle manière un modèle procédural, qui sert de point de départ à l’analyse, peut être détourné par son absorption dans un texte romanesque (genre de discours second, selon Bakhtine) dans le but de signifier bien autre chose que l’énoncé de simples consignes. Dans le roman étudié (Des hommes illustres de Jean Rouaud), l’action sur le lecteur s’exerce notamment à travers la sollicitation du pathos que facilite l’emploi de l’impératif de 2e personne.
