The chronicler strictly sticks to the traditional way of seeing things, adhering especially to the traditional doctrine on war, such as Vegecio’s work and Egidio Romano’s book, the Glosa Castellana al Regimiento de Príncipes. His last two chronicles are a clear testimony of this. But he doesn’t deal with this matter in his first two chronicles; as a matter of fact quite to the contrary, when he addresses the knightly question, one can observe that he seems to think differently. This is because the core idea underlining his work is an attempt to destroy the figure of Pedro; to that end, paradoxically, he appeals to ideas that seem to anticipate more modern ones
