    EN ESTE TRABAJO SE ANALIZA EL PAPEL QUE LOS ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES DEBEN TENER EN EL DESARROLLO CULTURAL, SOCIAL, POLÍTICO Y ECONÓMICO DEL PAÍS, REMARCANDO LAS CARACTERÍSTICAS Y FUNCIONES QUE DEBEN TENER ENTONCES LAS INSTITUCIONES DE EDUCACIÓN SUPERIOR, LOS PROBLEMAS ESPECÍFICOS QUE ENFRENTA ASÍ COMO ALGUNAS ALTERNATIVAS DE SOLUCIÓN.

    This article analyses the role higher studies should play in Mexico´s cultural, social, political and economic development, emphasizing the features and functions considered desirable ins institutions of higher education, the specific problems they face, and some alternative solutions.
