Resumen de Ramón Grau San Martín y Francisco Franco. Balance de las relaciones hispano-cubanas, 1944-1948

El presente artículo analiza las relaciones entre Cuba y la España franquista de 1944 a 1948. Durante este corto período los vínculos hispano-cubanos anduvieron a remolque entre los intentos del Palacio de Santa Cruz por acercarse a la siempre fiely la postura vacilante de Ramón Grau San Martín ante tales pretensiones. Su alianza con los comunistas cubanos y el escenario internacional de repudio al régimen franquista condicionó, al menos, los dos primeros años del grausato e inclinó la balanza de fuerza hacia la España errante. Ello no implicó, sin embargo, un reconocimiento al gobierno en el exilio y mucho menos una ruptura de relaciones con Franco. No obstante, con el alborear de la Guerra Fría todo comenzó a cambiar paulatinamente, haciéndose más visible la convergencia de intereses entre La Habana y Madrid.

This article analyzes the relations between Cuba and the Francoist Spain from 1944 to 1948. During this short period, Hispanic-Cuban ties were subject to the attempts of the “Palacio de Santa Cruz” to approach the always faithful Island of Cuba, and the hesitant position of Ramón Grau San Martín in the face of such pretentious ambitions. Grau’s alliance with the Cuban communists, and the international scene of condemnation of the Franco regime conditioned, at least, the first two years of his tenure and tipped the balance of power towards the wandering Spain. This did not imply, however, a recognition of the government-in-exile and much less a fracture in the political ties with Franco. However, with the dawn of the Cold War, everything gradually began to change, with the convergence of interests between Havana and Madrid becoming ever more visible.
