Resumen de Beiras e Pátria: o regionalismo beirão e as suas relações com o Estado e a sociedade civil no século XX

  This article proposes a reflection on the Portuguese regional association movement during the twentieth century, by focusing in a case study (the Casa das Beiras of Lisbon) and its conjunction with the specific academic literature, both about regional voluntary associations and the more generic subject of regionalism. I will analyse the historical context of its irruption and the subsequent evolution, its institutional relationships with the several political regimes and the remaining civil society, and the type of socio-cultural projects promoted by this movement. This study also intends to stress the crossing and the ways of dissemination of political-ideological and socio-cultural references; therefore, it will be clear for all the place given to the promotion of a plural cultural identity by this part of the civil society, mainly over an historical period of strong adverse official politics as it was during the Portuguese New State.

  Cet article propose une réflexion sur l’associativisme régionaliste portugais au XXe siècle. Il est centré sur une étude de cas (la Casa das Beiras de Lisbonne). Sont analysés le contexte historique de la genèse de cette association, sa consolidation, ses relations institutionnelles avec plusieurs régimes et le reste de la société civile, ainsi que le type de projets socioculturels proposé par ce mouvement. Cette étude vise aussi à mieux saisir les croisements et les modes de dissémination de références politiques, idéologiques et socioculturelles et, donc, à éclairer le processus de promotion d’une identité culturelle plurielle par une partie de la société civile, au cours notamment d’une période historique de politique officielle fortement adverse comme celle du régime de l’Estado Novo.

  O autor propõe uma reflexão sobre o associativismo regionalista português durante o século XX, focando-se num estudo de caso (a Casa das Beiras de Lisboa), articulando-a com estudos já realizados e com o tema mais amplo do regionalismo. Analisase o contexto histórico da sua irrupção e desenvolvimento, o relacionamento institucional com os vários regimes e a restante sociedade civil, o tipo de projectos sócio-culturais propostos. Procura-se iluminar o cruzamento e os modos da disseminação de referências político-ideológicas e sócio-culturais e, deste modo, contribuir para dilucidar o processo de promoção duma identidade cultural plural por uma parte da sociedade civil, incidindo sobretudo num período histórico de política oficial fortemente adversa como foi a do Estado Novo.
