Resumen de Characterization of Chromatographic Peaks with Excel

Gregorio Cruz Villalon

  • A Spreadsheet Excel application for chromatographic peak characterization is described in this article. Data are exported from HPLC specific program to an Excel file with macros to perform basic calculations as retention time, height, and area of the peaks. From these values, peak resolution, asymmetry, or theoretical plates are calculated and presented in a clear and direct mode. The application may be used as a teaching tool of chromatographic concepts when no HPLC equipment is available. Besides the education purpose, the application may be used for accurate measurement of peak resolution or theoretical plate number by non-usual methods when these features are not included in commercial peak integration software
