    Los avances de la ciencia pueden ser objeto de divulgación para el conocimiento general, de forma que puedan ser, en su caso, aplicados en la vida común; pero no siempre la posesión del conocimiento y su divulgación van parejos, pues la existencia del primero no conduce inexorablemente al segundo. Este no es el caso del Dr. Orfila, quien no dudó en plasmar en un librito, que algunos autores, injustamente, han querido calificar de obra menor, la utilidad de los mismos, expuestos en un lenguaje sencillo y, por lo tanto, de fácil comprensión, para prevenir accidentes y evitar un resultado fatal.

    The advances of science can be disclosed for general knowledge, so that they can be, where appropriate, applied in common life; but the possession of knowledge and its dissemination do not always go hand in hand, since the existence of the former does not lead inexorably to the latter. This is not the case of Dr. Orfila, who did not hesitate to capture in a small book, which some authors, unfairly, have wanted to describe as a minor work, the usefulness of the same, exposed in a simple language and, therefore, of easy to understand, to prevent accidents and avoid a Summary.
