    Es documenta per primera vegada a Balears la presència de la gambeta d’aigua salobre Palaemon varians Leach, 1814 (Palaemonidae). L’exemplar estudiat va ser recol·lectat a l’estany de desembocadura del torrent de Na Borges, al nord de l’illa de Mallorca, situada dins un Lloc d’Importància Comunitària (LIC). Es tracta d’un crustaci típic d’ambients estuarins, molt comú a l’Atlàntic europeu però poc freqüent a les costes mediterrànies ibèriques.

    The occurrence of the brackish water shrimp Palaemon varians Leach, 1814 (Palaemonidae) is documented for the first time in the Balearic Islands. The specimen studied was collected at the mouth of the torrent of Na Borges, in the north of the island of Mallorca, located inside a Site of Community Importance (SCI). It is a decapod crustacean typical of estuarine environments, very common in the European Atlantic but uncommon on the Iberian Mediterranean coasts.
