    Si algo caracterizó el mundo del arte, durante los últimos años del siglo XX, fue la crisis provocada por el SIDA transformando su escenario. El campo de la fotografía aportó un amplio abanico de imágenes capaces de conmocionar, e incluso de alterar conductas, canalizando el sufrimiento del enfermo desde un lugar privilegiado. El retrato fotográfico se reiteró en el terreno artístico y los trabajos realizados se convirtieron en auténticos documentos sociales de una época. La necesidad de ponerle rostro al virus, y de luchar contra el estigma, propició el desarrollo de una temática fotográfica que agitó conciencias. Los profesionales, lejos del sensacionalismo, captaron la pandemia de múltiples maneras desde una óptica realista, poética en algunos casos, pero siempre con un protagonista absoluto como era el desahuciado, el cual se dejó fotografiar sin ningún tabú.

    If anything characterized the world of art during the last years of the 20 th century, it was the crisis caused by AIDS, unleasing a series of creations, transforming it scene. The field of photography provided a wide range of images capable of shocking and, even altering behaviour, channeling the suffering of the patient from a privileged position. The photographic portrait was reiterated in the artistic field and the works became authentic social documents of an era. The need to put a human face on the virus and fight against stigma led to the development of a photographic theme that stirred consciences. The professionals, far from sensationalism, capture the pandemic in multiple ways from a realistic perspective, poetic in some cases, but always with an absolute protagonist such as the evicted person, who allowed himself to be photographed without any taboo
