Resumen de La Necesidad de la Educación Técnica en Colombia

Desde los inicios de la vida nacional colombiana, diferentes personajes y en diferentes ocasiones, han tratado el tema de la Educación Técnica; entre varios otros intentos el Congreso de 1850, con la Ley del 8 de julio, ordenó la creación de tres Escuelas de Artes y Oficios, que desafortunadamente no se concretó como una experiencia de mayor éxito. Sin embargo, con la creación de la Escuela Central de Artes y Oficios de Bogotá, Decretos 146 y 184 del 9 y 18 de febrero de 1905, se inició una de las experiencias más interesantes, ya que los organizadores de dicha Escuela fueron profesores técnicos: ingenieros, arquitectos franceses que habían creado varias escuelas en el continente europeo. Los planes de estudio de la Escuela Central programados en dos secciones, la preparatoria y la superior, permitieron formar en ciclos progresivos varios niveles de formación hasta culminar, después de 11 años en total de todos sus cursos, con el título de ingeniero en artes. En este artículo se presenta la trayectoria de esta Institución que ha coadyuvado al desarrollo industrial en Colombia y que al cumplir 100 años de labores logra recuperar el carácter académico con que fue fundada.

Since the beginning of the national colombian life, different personages have talked about technical education, the colombian congress in 1850 with the law of the eighth of July have done some attempts to create three Arts and Ocupations Schools but this wasn´t a done successful, unfortunately. The fact with the creation of the Arts and Occupations Central School of Bogotá, decrees number 146 and 184 of the Ninth and eighteenth of February of 1905, an interesting experience was begun because the organizers were technical proffesors: Engineers, French Architects that had created some schools in the European continent. The study plans of the Central School were designed in two sections: the preparatory and the superior levels, they permitted to form students in different and progressive cycles or levels to finish the studies 11 years later, all the courses finished and the students received the academic title in Arts Engineers. In this article the important trajectory of this institution was presented because it has contributed to the industrial development of Colombia and in its 100 years of jobs it has obtained to retrieve its academic intention which it was founded.
