L’article pretén donar a conèixer la figura de l’escrivà de despeses menudes de la Universitat de la Ciutat i Regne de Mallorca durant l’edat moderna. Aquest ofici, de caràcter permanent i en estret contacte amb els sis jurats, sovint s’anomenava “setè jurat” i portava annexes al seu càrrec les funcions relatives al cerimonial; funcions recollides als manuscrits “Llibre de l’escrivà” (SAL) i “Cerimonial de l’Arxiu” (ARM).
This article offers new information about the profession Escrivà de despeses menudes (Scribe of retailing expenses) of the Universitat (City Council) of Mallorca in the Modern Age. This official was permanent and linked to the six councilors, which is why he was usually called “the seventh councilor”. Obliged to his duty, he was aimed to control all kind of ceremonial on which the City Council intervened and he wrote everything down in the Llibre de l’escrivà (Book of the Scribe) and Cerimonial de l’Arxiu (Archive’s Cerimonial) manuscripts.
