Resumen de A hipótese do cérebro Bayesiano sustenta o relativismo linguístico de cores

  The visible color spectrum is categorized in various ways in different languages, having between 2 and 12 basic color terms. This unique linguistic phenomenon raises an important question: does a different categorization of the visible spectrum entail a different perception? Our goal is to answer this question by analyzing two distinct theses: (i) Linguistic Relativity (answers positively); (ii) Color Universalism (answers negatively). We analyze (i) and (ii) and look for empirical evidence to support them. The evidence found shows that our perception is influenced by linguistic categories. Therefore, we justify (i) using the Bayesian brain hypothesis by showing that claiming (ii) disregards the way our cognitive system works. We analyze different ways of categorizing colors around the world, showing experiments that point to the influence of categorization on perception.

  O espectro visível de cores é categorizado de diferentes maneiras em diferentes línguas, contendo entre 2 e 12 termos básicos. Esse fenômeno linguístico ímpar origina uma grande questão: a diferença de categorização do espectro visível ocasiona uma diferente percepção do indivíduo? Nosso objetivo é responder àquestão analisando diferentes propostas: (i) Relativismo Linguístico (respondendo positivamente); (ii) Universalismo das Cores (respondendo negativamente). Analisamos (i) e (ii) a fim de encontrar evidências experimentais que amparam as hipóteses. Posterior à análise, as evidências mostram que nossa percepção é influenciada pelas categorias linguísticas. Com o intuito de corroborar as evidências, justificamos (i) através da hipótese do Cérebro Bayesiano mostrando que afirmar (ii) desconsidera a forma como nosso sistema cognitivo opera. Analisamos diferentes formas de categorização de cores pelo mundo, mostrando experimentos que apontam a influência da categorização na percepção. Posteriormente justificamos este fenômeno utilizando a hipótese do Cérebro Bayesiano.
