Resumen de Noticias inéditas sobre una familia de plateros desconocidos: Los Aller de Santiago de Compostela (principios del siglo XIX-mediados del siglo XX)

Apenas existe un puñado de referencias al apellido Aller ligado al arte de la platería en Santiago de Compostela a lo largo del siglo XIX. En esta investigación hemos empleado material documental inédito como partidas de nacimiento y matrimonio del Registro Civil para tratar de desentrañar el árbol genealógico de la familia, matrículas de las escuelas de la Sociedad Económica para precisar su formación, o matrículas industriales del archivo municipal para ubicar sus obradores, entre otro tipo de fuentes. El hecho de que Manuel Aller Presas fuese marcador de la ciudad y la delimitación cronológica de su actividad nos sirve como instrumento para datar un gran número de piezas de otros plateros con su marca de contraste. Asimismo, hemos tratado de recoger todas las marcas conocidas de plateros con apellido Aller para ubicarlas según sus miembros.

We know just a few references about the Aller family, related to the art of silversmithing in Santiago de Compostela in the nineteenth century. In this research, we have used unpublished documents, such as birth and marriage certificates from the civil registry to reconstruct the family tree, registrations of the schools of the Economic Society to specify their training, or industrial registrations of the municipal archive to locate their workshops. The fact that Manuel Aller Presas was the marker of the city, serves as a chronological instrument to date a large number of pieces of other silversmiths which also present his contrast mark. In addition, we have tried to collect all the known marks of silversmiths with surname Aller to attribute each one to its correct author.
