Análisis e interpretación de la festividad huasteca del Día de Muertos, llamada Xantolo en México, desde la época prehispánica hasta nuestros días, determinada por la UNESCO como patrimonio cultural intangible. El análisis semiótico de las representaciones pictográficas registradas en códices de la época y las expresiones que en el periodo colonial y contemporáneo se van dando en la región, presenta un entramado epistemológico que el texto procura interpretar para llegar al modo de comprensión del fenómeno cultural que en México adopta dimensiones importantes como festejo social e incluso institucional.
Analysis and interpretation of the Huasteca celebration of the Day of the Dead, called Xantolo in Mexico which has been celebrated from the pre-Hispanic period to date and which has been determined by UNESCO as intangible cultural patrimony. The semiotic analysis of the pictographic representations recorded in the period codex and the expressions which start appearing during the colonial and modern periods in the region, present an epistemological framework which the text tries to interpret in order to reach the understanding mode that the cultural phenomena adopts in Mexico.
