Les cartes que s’editen corroboren l’afecte d’Estanislau Figueras Moragas per la família de la seva mare. Es preocupa d’ajudar els seus dos nebots, Narcís Oller Moragas i Josep Yxart Moragas, fills respectius de les seves cosines Rosa i Joana Moragas Tavern. Se n’alegra del casament d’Oller. Els fa comentaris sobre la seva vida diària i, amb Yxart amb qui havia conviscut gairebé mig any a Madrid, comparteix les alegries de la paternitat tardana i fins dibuixa un mapa de la situació política a la França coetània, que el revela un bon coneixedor. També, són remarcables per les dades biogràfiques que aporten sobre els seus fills. L’edició de les cartes m’ha permès aconseguir dades sobre alguns familiars directes.

The featured letters give proof of the affection that Estanislau Figueras Moragas held for his mother’s side ofthe family. He comes to the aid of his two nephews, Narcís Oller Moragas and Josep Yxart Moragas, sons of his cousins Rosa and Joana Moragas Tavern, respectively. He takes joy in the marriage of Oller; he tells them about his daily routines; and shares the pleasures of fatherhood with Yxart, with whom he had shared living quarters in Madrid for nearly a year, and even maps out the political situation of France in his day, with which he was well acquainted. All in all, the letters shed light on little-known aspects of the private life and political point of view of this major Catalan politician. Publication of the letters has opened the way to obtaining information regarding several family members.
