    El objetivo de este artículo consiste en estudiar la escasez de petróleo en Canarias durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en un contexto marcado por la no beligerancia española y la política autárquica del régimen franquista. Con este fin han sido consultadas fuentes españolas del Archivo Naval de Canarias, Archivo General del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y Archivo General de la Administración, y norteamericanas de los National Archives & Record Administration que reflejan las existencias de combustible en el archipiélago y las dificultades derivadas de su escasez. Entre sus principales conclusiones destaca que la escasez de combustible en las islas se debió principalmente a la reacción de los Aliados frente a la discutida neutralidad española, aunque también fue agravada por la política autárquica del primer franquismo./The goal of this article is to study the oil shortage in the Canary Islands during the Second World War, in a context defined by Spanish non-belligerence and the autarchic policy of Franco’s regime. To accomplish this objective, the sources of the Spanish Archivo Naval de Canarias, Archivo General del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, and Archivo General de la Administración, and the United States National Archives & Record Administration have been consulted, as they show the oil stocks in the archipelago, and the oil shortages and their consequences. Between the main conclusions it’s to be noted that the oil shortage was caused in first place by Allied reaction to the discussed Spanish neutrality, although it became worse too by the autarchic policy of the first Francoism.
