    El presente artículo aborda la curiosa historia del género botánico americano Cologania, planta perteneciente a la familia de las leguminosas que fue recolectada por Humboldt y Bonpland en su viaje al Nuevo Mundo, y posteriormente categorizada y bautizada por Karl Sigismund Kunth en agradecimiento a la hospitalidad que la familia Cólogan hubo siempre dispensado a todos los botánicos y naturalistas europeos que recalaron en la isla de Tenerife./This article deals with the curious history of the American botanical genus Cologania, a plant which belongs to the legume family, which was collected by Humboldt and Bonpland on their expedition to the New World, and afterwards classified and named by Karl Sigismund Kunth as a sign of gratitude to the Cólogan Family, for the hospitality that its members had always extended to all European botanists and naturalists who travelled to the island of Tenerife.
