    El presente trabajo pretende mostrar una historia del arte dominicano desde una perspectiva de género, con un énfasis especial en la producción artística femenina y en sus luchas o caminos particulares en el arte. Haremos un recorrido por los principales hitos y procesos del arte dominicano, así como las principales instituciones artísticas y el papel femenino dentro de ellas, tanto en la función docente como entre el alumnado. Además, pretendemos mostrar a través del arte dominicano cuestiones de análisis y reflexión fundamentales en torno al género, la migración y la raza, a partir de la obra de Iris Pérez Romero. La selección de la artista no es casual, pues su investigación en el arte ha centrado y focalizado estos temas de manera excepcional. En el arte de Iris Pérez encontramos las problemáticas, que son señaladas y denunciadas, pero también nos muestra vías o posibilidades de transformación que permiten un análisis y una reflexión beneficiosa en la resolución de las temáticas que se plantean.

    This work aims to show the history of Dominican art from a gender perspective, with particular emphasis on female artistic production and their struggles or particular paths in art. We will take a tour of the main milestones and processes of Dominican art, as well as the leading art institutions and the female role within them, both in the teaching role and among the students. In addition, we intend to show through Dominican art fundamental issues of analysis and reflection on gender, migration and race, from the work of Iris Pérez Romero. The selection of the artist is not accidental since her research in her art has centered and focused on these issues in a unique way. In the art of Iris Pérez we find the problems which are pointed out and denounced. Still, it also shows us ways or possibilities of transformation that allow analysis and beneficial reflection in solving the thematics that arise.
