    El anarquismo del siglo XIX y primer tercio del siglo XX daba una importancia central al saber como instrumento de su proyecto emancipador. Por este motivo la edición de periódicos y revistas formó parte de la idiosincrasia del Movimiento Libertario.

    Las mujeres, aunque en menor medida, participaron de esta tarea de «tomar la palabra» como educadoras del pueblo. La revista Mujeres Libres (1936-1938) fue su logro más importante. Nació en mayo de 1936 como revista cultural con el objetivo a largo plazo de crear una organización de mujeres y, a corto plazo, como instrumento para captar mujeres obreras y capacitarlas. El golpe de Estado de julio de 1936, el inicio de la Guerra Civil y de la Revolución Social que impulsó el Movimiento Libertario, aceleraron los planes y la revista se transformó en periódico de combate.

    Anarchism in the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century gave central importance to knowledge as an instrument of its emancipatory project. For this reason, the publication of newspapers and magazines formed part of the idiosyncrasy of the Libertarian Movement.

    Women, albeit to a lesser extent, participated in this task of "taking the floor" as educators of the people. The magazine Mujeres Libres (1936-1938) was its most important achievement. It was born in May 1936 as a cultural magazine with the long-term aim of creating a women's organisation and, in the short term, as an instrument to recruit and train women workers. The coup d'état of July 1936, the outbreak of the Civil War and the Social Revolution that drove the Libertarian Movement, accelerated the plans and the magazine was transformed into a combat newspaper.
