  • Resumen
    • High amounts of tetrachloroethylene were used in dry cleaning and conditioning of textile fibres. So organic wastes with high concentrations of TTCE are produced, being this compound harmful for the environment and health. In previous works (5), hydrochlorination (so-called hydrogenation) of these wastes were proposed as an effective way to remove this dangerous compound. The main issue of this technique is to choose an appropriate catalyst to carry out this process at mild conditions. In the first part of this work, several commercial hydrogenation catalysts (supported precious metal catalysts, nickel catalysts and hydrotreatment catalysts) were tested. The influence of the main operation parameters (temperature and pressure) was studied for hydrotreatment and precious metal catalysts, requiring milder conditions the precious metal catalysts. Finally, deactivation of these catalysts was studied, being the palladium catalyst the most stable one, while all the other catalysts suffer deactivation in some extension.
