Resumen de La diversidad funcional en los medios de comunicación de Extremadura (España) y su relación con las unidades informativas

  En este trabajo se investiga la relación entre la diversidad funcional, los medios de comunicación y las unidades de información. Para ello, en primer lugar, se hace una revisión bibliográfica sobre trabajos nacionales e internacionales sobre medios de comunicación y unidades informativas y su relación con la diversidad funcional; en segundo lugar, se investiga el número de noticias publicadas sobre diversidad funcional en dos medios de comunicación representativos de la Región de Extremadura (España) (DOE y HOY) (1373 noticias); y, en tercer lugar, se analizan con detalle dichas noticias para comprobar si hacen alusión a las unidades de información y, si es así, determinar el carácter de dicha mención (40 noticias, 2,91 %). La investigación se realiza durante el año 2020 coincidiendo con el periodo crucial de la pandemia sanitaria provocada por la COVID19, que supuso un hándicap para todos los ciudadanos y, en especial, para las personas con diversidad funcional. Entre los resultados hallados se obtiene que las unidades de información mayormente mencionadas son las bibliotecas (70 %) y que la temática más recurrente es “Oposiciones y empleo” (42,5 %). Se concluye con la necesidad de una mayor implicación y visibilidad en los medios de comunicación del papel que desempeñan las unidades de información en lo relativo a la ayuda y el apoyo hacia los colectivos más vulnerables.

  Thefunctional diversity in Extremadura is researched by comparingthe problem in the media with the norma-tive activity. It also delves into its relationship with in-formation units.The objective is to discover whether the official regulations accompany the social problems reflected in the media.To do this, we investigated the news about functional diversity published in the DOE (Official Gazette of Extremadura), as a normative medium, and in the HOY newspaper of Extremadura, as a global communication medium, to see their differences regardinggeographical area, terminology and typology, topics, temporal evolution, and relationship with the information units; and, finally, we delve into this last aspect.The research wascarried out during 2020, coinciding with the crucial period of the health pandemic caused by COVID19, which was a handicap for all citizens and, especially, for people with disabilities. Among the general results, a volume of news about functional diversity is obtained, very much in favour of HOY (1344 news) to the detriment of the DOE (29 news). A slight opening towards the outside is also obtained, a slight use of the term "functional diversity" and a greater thematic diversity in the HOY newspaper. As for the information units, there is a very low percentage of news (40, all in the HOY, 2.91%), the most frequently mentioned information units are libraries (70%) and the most recurrent theme is “Employment” (42.5%). It concludes with a lack of accompaniment on disability between the political regulations and the social problems reflected in the media. It also concludes with the need for greater involvement and visibility in themedia of the role played by information units in relation to helping the most vulnerable groups.
