    En un arte como el cinematográfico, el posmodernismo puede ser apreciado desde diferentes puntos de vista, siendo los más recurrentes los relativos al estilo narrativo, la hibridación de géneros y las temáticas abordadas. Sin embargo, en este texto se propone adoptar la perspectiva del diseño de los personajes, tal vez menos habitual a la hora de identificar la naturaleza posmoderna de una película, pero íntimamente ligado a las tres anteriormente citadas e incluso de mayor utilidad a la hora de entender algunos de los aspectos de la realidad en que vivimos. En este sentido, el cine de Claire Denis cuenta con los rasgos más distintivos del llamado cine posmoderno: rompe con el modernismo desde el punto de vista narrativo y se preocupa por temáticas como la identidad y la crisis de la institución familiar.

    In the art of cinema, postmodernism can be observed from several points of view, being the most recurring those related to the narrative style, the blending of different genres and the topics addressed. Nevertheless, this text proposes the adoption of a perspective related to the character design, maybe more unusual when it comes to identify the postmodern nature of a film, but tightly linked to the ones previously mentioned and even more useful if we want to understand some relevant aspects of the reality we live in. In this sense, Claire Denis’ cinema showcases the most distinctive traits of the so-called postmodern cinema: from a narrative point of view it breaks away from Modernism and shows a special interest in topics such as identity and the crisis of the family as an institution.
