    Este artículo presenta avances del trabajo realizado en el marco del proyecto de investigación, radicado en la Decanatura de Investigaciones de la Institución Universitaria Antonio José Camacho, que están llevando a cabo los autores. Dicho proyecto trabaja en la búsqueda de posibles factores determinantes de la deserción estudiantil en la UNIAJC a través de un modelo estadístico matemático; un estudio que, aunque se ha trabajado en la institución, no se ha enfocado desde el punto de vista probabilístico, con la prioridad de mostrar las causas, el comportamiento y la afectación de dicho fenómeno.

    Usando herramientas provistas por un análisis estadístico-descriptivo y posterior análisis confirmatorio, se busca establecer un modelo que fundamente la implementación de políticas, que permitan lograr la disminución del fenómeno mencionado. Se pretende mostrar avances de un estudio que brinde las herramientas necesarias para comprender, de manera puntual, cómo este fenómeno se manifiesta y cómo poder ofrecer alternativas, no solo desde el ámbito académico, sino desde múltiples estamentos que conforman la universidad.

    Actualmente, esta situación es una problemática nacional que afecta todos los niveles de escolaridad de la estructura educativa del país. Por tanto, este es un escenario adecuado y pertinente para establecer contextos y claridades que nos permitan analizar cómo la deserción afecta de manera directa la educación; no solo en la institución donde se genere, sino en la región que busca impactar, dado que la educación es un tema transversal en los campos de acción de una región.

    This article presents the progress of the work carried out within the framework of the research project, based on the Dean's Office of Research of the Institution, which is being carried out by the authors. This project works in the search of determining factors of the student desertion in the University Institution Antonio José Camacho through a mathematical statistical model; a study that, although it has worked in the institution, has not been focused from the probabilistic point of view, with the priority of showing the causes, the behavior and the affectation of this phenomenon.

    Using tools provided for descriptive statistical analysis and subsequent confirmatory analysis, it is sought to establish a model that bases the implementation of policies, which allows obtaining the reduction of the aforementioned phenomenon. It is intended to show the advances that allow the necessary tools to understand, in a timely manner, how this phenomenon manifests itself and how it can be offered, not only from the academic sphere, but from multiple states that make up the University.

    Currently, this situation is a national problem that affects all levels of education in the country's educational structure. Therefore, this is an appropriate and relevant scenario to establish contexts and clarities that allow us to analyze how the dropout directly affects education; not only in the institution where it is generated, but in the region that seeks to impact, given that education is a cross-cutting issue in the fields of action of a region.
