Quienes han estudiado la identidad de la clase obrera chilena han relevado, mayoritariamente, la importancia del espacio y el tiempo del trabajo en su formación, proponiendo otros la influencia, en ese proceso, de los espacios donde esos trabajadores vivían. En esa dirección, en este artículo abordamos la historia de la población MADECO, de la industria homónima, donde sus trabajadores se relacionaron con diversos actores y participaron en variadas instancias, formando una identidad donde se observaba la influencia del sindicato, de la empresa y de los vecinos de las poblaciones colindantes, enriqueciendo y diversificando sus características y rasgos.
Those who have studied the identity of the Chilean working class have highlighted, for the most part, the importance of the space and time of work in its formation, others proposing the influence, in this process, of the spaces where these workers lived. In this direction, in this article we address the history of the MADECO population, of the homonymous industry, where its workers were related to various actors and participated in various instances, forming an identity where the influence of the union, the company and the neighbors of the adjoining towns, enriching and diversifying their characteristics and traits.
