Resumen de Problemática de los metales pesados en los lodos de depuradoras

Pedro Soler Rovira, Alfredo Polo Sánchez

  • Using sewage sludge for agricultural purposes as a fertilising material can introduce potentially toxic elements in soils. Heavy metals are in sewage sludge in relatively small amounts compared with its other components but may be excessive in many cases and represent a risk both in their toxicity in small concentrations and in their endurance and accumulative effect. Thus, it becomes necessary to always analyse heavy metal content in sewage sludge before directing it towards agricultural uses and adjust this agronomical practice to the limits as set by current legislation.
