Resumen de O lamento em luto nos poemas consolatórios latinos: o caso das Siluae de Estácio

  O presente artigo tem por objetivo compreender como as representações do lamento em luto na poesia das Siluae de Estácio (c. 45-96 EC) estavam de acordo com a tradição consolatória da poesia latina e com os interesses de seu grupo de leitores. Para tanto, selecionamos quatro poemas como fontes principais: as Siluae 2.1, 2.6, 3.3 e 5.1. Apresentamos, primeiro, alguns poemas consolatórios da literatura latina e a retórica poética por uma livre expressão do luto, também comparando essa tradição com a abordagem filosófica sobre a restrição do lamento. Em seguida, analisamos a representação de lamentos nos poemas selecionados das Siluae e propomos uma investigação sobre como Estácio buscava atender possíveis interesses dos destinatários com essas representações. Por fim, indicamos que, na luta de representações da literatura latina em torno do lamento em luto, as consolações de Estácio abordaram a retórica poética sobre a livre expressão do luto como uma forma de destacar e elogiar seus destinatários interessados em literatura.

  This article aims to understand how the representation of grief’s mourning in the poetry of Statius’ Siluae (c. 45-96 CE) were in accordance with the consolatory tradition of Latin poetry and with the interests of its group of readers. For that, we selected four poems as main sources: the Siluae 2.1, 2.6, 3.3 and 5.1. First, we present some consolatory poems from Latin literature and the poetic rhetoric for a free expression of grief, also comparing this tradition with the philosophical approach to the restriction of mourning. Then, we analyze the representation of mourning in the selected poems of the Siluae and we propose an investigation of how Statius sought to meet possible interests of the recipients with these representations. Finally, we indicate that, in the struggle of representations of Latin literature on grief’s mourning, the consolations of Statius approached a poetic rhetoric about the free expression of mourning as a way to highlight and praise its recipients interested in literature.
