    La actividad política de Fernando Muñoz, duque de Riánsares, durante la segunda mitad del reinado de Isabel II está poco estudiada y apenas se le ha dado relevancia. Desde 1854, año en el que tuvo que exiliarse a Francia, junto con su esposa, María Cristina de Borbón, Muñoz no intervino directamente en la política. Ahora bien, eso no significa que se mantuviera al margen, al contrario, participó en los principales acontecimientos políticos por los que atravesó el Estado español y lo hizo como él sabía, a través de redes clientelares y relaciones personales. Para ello, construyó un nuevo grupo de poder a través del que distribuía sus mensajes y ordenaba sus actuaciones, el que se autodenominó «Los Tres Mosqueteros». La actividad del grupo se aceleró tras la revolución de 1868, cuando los Borbones fueron expulsados del trono y Fernando Muñoz, desde el principio, intentó su restauración.

    The political activity of Fernando Muñoz, Duke of Riánsares, during the second half of the reign of Isabel II is little studied and has hardly been given relevance. Since 1854, when he had to go into exile in France, along with his wife, María Cristina de Borbón, Muñoz did not intervene directly in politics. However, that does not mean that he remained on the sidelines, on the contrary, he participated in the main and important political events that the Spanish State went through and he did it as he knew how, through client networks and personal relationships. To do this, he built a new power group through which he distributed his messages and ordered his actions, which he called «The Three Musketeers». Both the group and its activity accelerated after the Revolution of 1868, when the Bourbons were expelled from the throne and Fernando Muñoz, from the beginning, tried to restore them.
