Resumen de Competencias genéricas en futuros maestros: diferencias al inicio y final de cuatrimestre

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar si las competencias genéricas del alumnado universitario de nuevo ingreso mejoraban tras cursar una asignatura cuatrimestral de carácter obligatorio. Participaron 121 estudiantes de primer curso del Grado en Educación Infantil. Todos ellos contestaron el “Cuestionario para valorar las competencias transversales de estudiantes universitarios” al inicio y final de la asignatura. Los resultados indicaron que, en ambos momentos, el alumnado presentó niveles altos en las siete competencias evaluadas. Tres competencias mostraron mejoras significativas al finalizar la asignatura: pensar de forma crítica, lógica y creativa (p = .03); trabajo autónomo (p = .004) y aprender a aprender (p = .003). Las competencias genéricas, como toda competencia, pueden ser aprendidas, pero ello requiere su puesta en marcha. Es por ello que el profesorado debe desarrollar estrategias que fomenten el logro y mejora de las mismas.

The aim of this study was to analyze whether the generic skills of beginner university students improved after completing a compulsory four-month subject. 121 first-year students of the Degree in Early Childhood Education participated. All of them answered the “Questionnaire to assess the transversal competences of university students” at the beginning and end of the subject. The results indicated that, in both moments, the students presented high levels in the seven competencies evaluated. Three competencies showed significant improvements at the end of the subject: thinking critically, logically and creatively (p = .03); autonomous work (p = .004) and learning to learn (p = .003). Generic skills, like all skills, can be learned, but this requires that teachers develop strategies that encourage their achievement and improvement
