    The article seeks to demonstrate that information is an essential element of the capi-talist economic system. For this reason, companies organize themselves internally to obtain, or-ganize and provide information (accounting departments) and the disclosure of this information for the purposes of taxation, consumer protection, financial health, is required by the ordinary laws and the Constitution, which, transforms information into a fundamental individual right (freedom of information). As a result, the fundamental right to information is also an economic right, essential to the proper functioning of the capitalist economic system. The article is explor-atory and descriptive and uses a bibliographic review to construct the answers to the research problem.

    O artigo busca demonstrar que a informação é um elemento essencial do sistema eco-nômico capitalista. Por esta razão as empresas se organizam internamente para obter, organizar e prestar as informações (departamentos de contabilidade) e, a divulgação destas informações para efeitos de tributação, proteção do consumidor, saúde financeira, são obrigados pelas leis ordinárias e pela Constituição, a qual, transforma a informação em direito individual fundamen-tal (liberdade de informação). Com isso, o direito fundamental à informação também é um direito econômico, essencial ao bom funcionamento do sistema econômico capitalista. O artigoé ex-ploratório e descritivo e utiliza revisão bibliográfica para a construção das respostas ao problema de pesquisa
