  • Resumen
    • Power, Violence and Religion in the Dynamics for Recognition of Social Values · Contemporary reality hides behind scarcely visible, difficult-to-name realities, a power as insidious as it is pervasive, unseen but omnipresent and capable of perverting the social order in all of its values known to date (Sassen 2018). The void created between the everyday social dimension and the loss of the effectiveness of political action in favor of purely economic varieties of logic in contemporary society, which are in profound, continuous and rapid change, can – and history is full of examples of this – find an outlet in forms of action which exacerbate the canons of the very form of social action in an ideal process of shortening distances. This reduced distance is revealed in the short-circuit between the dialectical democratic dimension and the need for radical and immediate solutions which can transform action into its negative: a violation, or an action that transforms impotence and the frustrated need for the expression of rights, therefore also of a denied visibility, in a violent action which, in turn, tends to a denial of whatever is excluding it. In this sense, the value structure acts as a mediation network capable of providing individuals with the tools necessary to transform violence as a destructive action into alternative actions, while tending to add in even those situations of a transparent social injustice or disadvantage to the detriment of the few. Under what conditions, then, can the values, customs and religious affiliations of a civilization be the object of attack and violence by radical mirror forces which define themselves in exclusion from it?
