  • Resumen
    • «After Religions». Aldo Capitini’s «Reform of Religion» · In the 30’s Aldo Capitini suggested an entirely new religion, but not entirely defined. Since he presented it in mainly subjective terms a detailed and comprehensive study is necessary in order to define its main contents. Moreover, one cannot analyze his notion of religion according to a set of characteristic features necessarily pertaining to a religion because the notion of religion lacks of a commonly shared definition. In addition, his proposal linked his religion to non-violence, a notion which again lacks of a commonly shared definition. In order to overcome the last two difficulties I analyze Aldo Capitini’s religion on background of the analogous reforms of religiosity promoted by the greatest masters of nonviolence (Tolstoy, Gandhi, etc.). A new set of characteristic features of his religion are obtained. However the so defined Capitini’s religion appears as unaccomplished. But it raises a fundamental question which is of great relevance for the present «after religions» time, when people want to move from a generic spirituality to deeper forms of self-reliant religiosity: can one construct an entire religion upon only human relationships? He is the prophet of the religions of «after religions» for having made the first attempt to reconstruct religion in both a modern sense, because he has based it on infinity and globality, and demonstrably fraternal, because he has based it on the nonviolent resolution of all conflicts
