  • Resumen
    • The Continuation of Pitirim Sorokin’s Investigation of Catholic Saints. From John XXIII to Pope Francis · Written by Sorokin near the end of 1940s, Altruistic love is an important staging-post of journey of search which has been developed by Sorokin in the second part of his life. Confirmed the decline of the mentality ‘late-sensate’ produced by economic and science creativity of the 19th century, for Sorokin to fuel the occidental revolt anti-sensate contributes the rediscovery of altruistic personality of which the Cristians saints have been in the past witnesses. Moved by these convictions, the Russian-American sociologist undertook a systematic investigation with 3000 Cristians saints (Catholics and Orthodox) by examining biographical characteristics, social background, socio-professional condition and model of holiness practised. The research embraces a time which became from the first centuries of Christianity to the pontificate of Pius XII. About eighty years later these article presents the continous Sorokin’s research analysing the canonizations occured by the pontificate of John XXIII far as a present Pontiff. Using the same items of Altruistic Love the profiles of 1477 Catholic saints canonized between 1959 and 2021 were analysed.
