    Presentamos un estudio de anillos y colgantes de Inglaterra y Gales de entre 1400 y 1700, registrados en la Portable Antiquities Scheme, y que tienen la forma de corazón o inscripciones con la palabra "corazón". El artículo explora cómo estos objetos pueden informarnos sobre la experiencia vivida, la percepción y la expresión del amor y otras emociones, y cómo ello refleja las ideas médicas y populares contemporáneas que se tenían sobre el corazón. También analiza de manera más general cómo los objetos comunican activamente e invocan emociones.

    This paper presents a case study of finger rings and pendants from England and Wales from the period 1400–1700, which have been recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme, and that feature the shape of the heart or inscriptions of the word ‘heart’. The paper explores how these objects can inform us about the embodied experience, perception and expression of love and other emotions in the period in question, and how this reflects contemporary medical and popular ideas held about the heart. It also discusses more generally how objects actively communicated and invoked emotion.

    cet article présente une étude de cas des bagues et pendentifs d’Angleterre et d’Ecosse de la période 1400-1700, qui ont été inventoriés dans le cadre du Portable Antiquities Scheme (Projet des antiquités portables) et qui présentent des inscriptions du mot « heart » (coeur) ou de la forme d’un coeur. L’article explore ce que ces objets peuvent nous apprendre sur l’expérience incarnée, la perception et l’expression de l’amour et des autres émotions dans la période en question, et comment cela reflète des idées populaires et médicales contemporaines relatifs au coeur. Cet article traite également plus généralement de la manière dont les objets communiquaient activement et invoquaient l’émotion.

    In diesem Beitrag wird eine Fallstudie von Fingerringen und Anhängern aus England und Wales der Zeit von 1400 bis 1700 vorgestellt, die mit dem „Portable Antiquities Scheme“ erfasst wurden und entweder die Form eines Herzens oder Inschriften des Wortes „Herz“ aufweisen. Hierbei wird auch untersucht, was uns diese Objekte über die Erfahrung, Wahrnehmung und den Ausdruck von Liebe und anderen Emotionen zu dieser Zeit mitteilen können und wie dies die zeitgenössischen medizinischen und populären Vorstellungen über das Herz widerspiegelt. Außerdem wird in diesem Artikel näher darauf eingegangen, wie diese Objekte aktiv kommunizierten und Emotionen hervorriefen.
