Hacia una estética de la espera. Apuntes sobre la transposición cinematográfica de Zama por Lucrecia Martel

    La literatura es una de las principales fuentes de las que se nutre el cine desde sus comienzos. Sin embargo, a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX la influencia inversa (es decir, del cine sobre la literatura) ha sido cada vez mayor. Antonio di Benedetto encontró en el séptimo arte algunos elementos narrativos que utilizó en sus obras, y que han dado lugar a lo que en este artículo llamamos estética de la espera. Lucrecia Martel estrenó en 2017 su adaptación de la obra cumbre del autor mendocino, Zama, e inmediatamente se transformó en una película aclamada por la crítica especializada. En este artículo nos proponemos dilucidar los recursos que Martel utiliza para dotar a Diego de Zama de ciertas características que lo hacen un personaje por el cual es posible sentir empatía (a diferencia del personaje del libro), aunque sin perder la esencia.

    Literature is one of the main sources from which cinema has been nourished since its inception. However, from the second half of the 20th Century, the inverse influence (that is, of cinema on literature) has been increasing. Antonio Di Benedetto found in the seventh art some narrative elements that he used in his works, and that have given rise to what in this article we call the aesthetics of waiting. Lucrecia Martel premiered her adaptation of Zama in 2017, and it immediately became a critically acclaimed film. In this article we intend to elucidate the resources that Martel uses to endow Diego de Zama with certain characteristics that make him a character for whom it is possible to feel empathy (unlike the character in the book), although without losing the essence.
