    En este trabajo se analiza la nueva corriente sobre la extinción de la obligación de alimentos en aplicación de la doctrina establecida en STS 19 febrero 2019 (RJ 2019, 497), ante la ausencia manifiesta y continuada de relación familiar entre alimentante y alimentista, siguiendo la línea marcada por el Código Civil de Cataluña en su artículo 237-13. Por último, se llevan a cabo algunas reflexiones con el fin de adaptar la legislación nacional a la actual realidad social.

    This paper analyzes the new current on the extinction of the maintenance obligation in application of the doctrine established in STS 19 February 2019, given the manifest and continued absence of a family relationship between obligor and obligee, following the line marked by the Civil Code. of Catalonia in its article 237-13. Finally, some reflections are carried out in order to adapt the national legislation to the social reality.
