    The excavations of Boncuklu Tarla eastern part: New data on the late PPNA in the Upper Tigris valley The site of Boncuklu Tarla, in the province of Mardin in Turkey, was identified in 2008 and salvage excavations have been carried out since 2012. This archaeological excavation provides a new opportunity to examine the complete chronology of the Pre-Pottery Neolithic in the Upper Tigris Valley thanks to the presence of archaeological strata dating from the Epipaleolithic to the end of the late PPNB. In the eastern section of Boncuklu Tarla, PPNA remains enable us to reassess both public and domestic architecture, as well as the village’s spatial organization in the 10th millennium. In this area, we identified a “public” building surrounded by houses. Graves dating from the PPNA, lithic material and non-utilitarian objects made of stone or bones have also come to light in this part of the site. These new developments will improve our knowledge of material culture at the end of the 10th millennium in the Upper Tigris Valley.

    Le site de Boncuklu Tarla, dans la province de Mardin en Turquie, a été identifié en 2008 et est fouillé depuis 2012. Ces fouilles représentent une nouvelle occasion de retracer la chronologie complète du Néolithique précéramique dans la vallée du haut Tigre en raison de la présence de couches archéologiques allant de l’Épipaléolithique à la fin du PPNB récent. Dans la partie est de Boncuklu Tarla, les restes archéologiques du PPNA nous permettent également de voir l’architecture communautaire, domestique et l’organisation spatiale du village dans le contexte chronologique du Xe millénaire. Dans cette zone, nous avons identifié un bâtiment communautaire entouré de maisons. Des sépultures du PPNA ont été mises au jour dans ce secteur ainsi que du matériel lithique et des objets de prestige en pierre et en os. Ces données nouvelles nous permettent d’approfondir notre connaissance de la culture matérielle de la fin du Xe millénaire dans la vallée du haut Tigre.

    التنقيبات الأثرية في الجانب الشرقي من موقع بونكوكلو تارلا: معطيات جديدة حول من نهاية العصر الحجري الحديث ماقبل الفخاري أ، في وادي دجلة الأعلى تم تحديد موقع بونكوكلو تارلا في مقاطعة ماردين في تركيا عام ٢٠٠٨ وتم تنقيبه عام ٢٠١٢، ويمثل فرصة جديدة لتتبع التسلسل الزمني الكامل العصر الحجري الحديث ماقبل الفخاري في وادي دجلة الأعلى، لوجود طبقات أثرية تتراوح من نهاية العصر الحجري القديم (الإيبي باليوليت) وحتى المرحلة ب الأخيرة من العصر الحجري الحديث ماقبل الفخاري. تسمح البقايا الأثرية العائدة للعصر الحجري الحديث ماقبل الفخاري أ في هذا الموقع بملاحظة العمارة الجماعية والمحلية والتنظيم المكاني للقرية ضمن سياق الزمني للألف العاشر. وفي هذه المنطقة تم تحديد مبنى للاجتماعات محاطاً بالبيوت. وفي هذه المنطقة أيضاً تم اكتشاف مدافن من العصر الحجري الحديث ماقبل الفخاري أ، وكذلك أدوات حجرية صوانية وأدوات ثمينة مصنوعة من الحجارة أو العظام. تسمح لنا هذه المعطيات الجديدة بتعميق معرفتنا بالثقافة المادية في نهاية الألف العاشر في وادي دجلة الأعلى.
