    El contrato de 1561 de la obra de la desaparecida parroquial de San Pedro de Alcantarilla con el cantero Juan Rodríguez, nombrado maestro mayor de las obras del Obispado de Cartagena a la muerte de Jerónimo Quijano, ayuda a esclarecer las fechas de construcción de este señalado templo renacentista murciano. A su primera portada en piedra, ejecutada por el propio Rodríguez con un lenguaje arquitectónico purista característico de aquellos años, se añadió otra secundaria en el lateral del templo, levantada en la década final del siglo XVI, diseñada probablemente por el arquitecto Pedro Monte de Isla.

    En el transcurso del texto se aportan también datos sobre los problemas estructurales de la techumbre del templo, que finalmente tuvo que ser demolido en 1961, y sobre la iglesia de San Sebastián, ubicada en el lugar viejo de Alcantarilla

    The 1561 contract for the work of the disappeared parish church of San Pedro de Alcantarilla with the stonemason Juan Rodríguez, named master of the works of the Bishopric of Cartagena at the death of Jerónimo Quijano, helps to clarify the dates of construction of this remarkable murcian renaissance temple. To its first stone façade, executed by Rodríguez himself with a purist architectural language characteristic of those years, another secondary one was added on the side of the temple, built in the final decade of the sixteenth century, probably designed by the architect Pedro Monte de Isla. In the course of the text, data are also provided on the structural problems of the roof of the temple, which finally had to be demolished in 1961, and on the church of San Sebastián, located in the old place of Alcantarilla
