Algeciras y las actividades marítimo-portuarias durante la regencia de María Cristina de Borbón (1833-1840): Una aproximación

    El presente trabajo constituye una nueva aportación a la investigación sobre ámbitos relacionados con el estrecho de Gibraltar, especialmente aquellos referidos al mundo marítimo: navegación, comercio, contrabando, tipología de embarcaciones, accidentes y naufragios acaecidos en sus aguas desde la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII hasta el primer tercio del XIX. El artículo recoge los últimos avances de la investigación en un periodo (1833-1840) poco estudiado de la historia algecireña. Se debe destacar la procedencia de las fuentes que, inéditas en su totalidad y procedentes del Archivo de Protocolos Notariales de Algeciras, salen a la luz por primera vez, aportando nuevos conocimientos sobre la historia marítima del puerto y la ciudad de Algeciras.

    This work is a new contribution to research into areas related to the Strait of Gibraltar, especially those related to the maritime world: navigation, trade, smuggling, types of vessels, accidents and shipwrecks that occurred in its waters from the second half of the 18th century until the first third of the 19th century. The article presents the latest advances in research into a period (1833-1840) that has been little studied in the history of Algeciras.

    The origin of the sources, which are completely unpublished and come from the Archive of Notarial Protocols of Algeciras, should be highlighted. They are being published for the first time, providing new knowledge on the maritime history of the port and the city of Algeciras.
