The access of young people with intellectual disabilities to the university context is already a reality in many countries. In Spain, several universities have developed specific training programmes to welcome these young people with the aim of facilitating the access to certain jobs. The present study has two aims: firstly, to justify the inclusion of physical activity as part of the educational curriculum of these training programmes based on the physical, psychological ,and social benefits reported in the scientific literature. Secondly, approaching the transfer from theory to practicethrough a case study that has been carried out for the last six years at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain).
