Resumen de Modulaciones de la memoria televisiva: inquietudes sobre las series y el género en tiempos de streaming

  El artículo se interesa por identificar transformaciones de la serie televisiva en los nuevos escenarios tecnológicos, atendiendo especialmente a los modos en que las plataformas de streaming seleccionan, denominan y exhiben sus repertorios de ficciones, a la vez que diseñan otras experiencias de expectación. La premisa sostendrá que, en esos catálogos digitales que administran el flujo serial, vestigios de la televisión perviven, aunque dicha tecnología se haya extenuado. En los términos teóricos de Mikhail Bakhtin, tal fenómeno puede afrontarse como un género discursivo, más particularmente como una memoria genérica que oscila entre la permanencia y el cambio, carácter tensivo siempre a tono con la dinámica sociohistórica. Describiré, desde esa postura teórica, tres mutaciones de la forma seriada que son fundacionales en su memoria: el broadcasting, el blockbuster y el streaming. Un último tramo se orientará a preguntarse qué contratos de lectura está proponiendo la cultura digital y algorítmica en esos catálogos de series que prometen ser personalizados, inacabables y en permanente renovación como la misma discursividad social.

  The article is interested in identifying transformations in TV series in the new technological scenarios, with special attention to the ways in which streaming platforms select, name and exhibit their repertoires of fictions, while designing other experiences of expectation. The premise will hold that, in those digital catalogs that manage the serial flow, vestiges of television survive, although that technology had ended. In the theoretical terms of Mikhail Bakhtin, this phenomenon can be approached as a discursive genre, more particularly as a generic memory that oscillates between permanence and change, a tense character always related to sociohistorical dynamics. I will describe, from this theoretical position, some mutations of the serial form based on three moments of its memory: broadcasting, blockbuster, and streaming. A final section will focus on asking what contracts digital and algorithmic culture is proposing in those series catalogs that promise to be personalized, endless and constantly renewed, as is social discourse.
