Por qué hablar de temas sociales La DSI, una enseñanza que exhorta a revisar comportamientos

    Con este artículo respondo a la invitación a contribuir en el homenaje a los directores de la revista ya fallecidos. La vigencia de los problemas sociales en el mundo, con particular severidad en estos tiempos, reclama al menos revisar nuestra conducta para considerar si estamos respondiendo de manera acorde a la tarea evangelizadora que nos urge por el hecho de ser cristianos. Disponemos para ello de un tesoro: la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia.

    Estas páginas pretenden recordar, resumir y presentar la naturaleza, sentido y alcance de unas enseñanzas cuyo revestimiento de profunda humanidad y rigor científico, ayudan a ofrecer un horizonte específico de respuesta en estricta coherencia con el mensaje evangélico. Lo anterior se intenta completar con la exposición de una serie de argumentos que razonen ante quien sea, porqué la Iglesia ha de tratar los variados y complejos temas de carácter social, y obviamente, actuar coherentemente con su misión.

    Sin duda, se hace referencia a los documentos más representativos que constituyen su “corpus” doctrinal, aportando bastantes textos, con el sincero deseo de acercar lo más posible al lector a la fuente de la cual manan enseñanzas magistralmente elaboradas y, para muchos desgraciadamente desconocidas total o parcialmente. Ojalá, y resulta ser una especial pretensión, la recomendada reposada lectura de estas páginas motive a ampliar el conocimiento y profundización en un océano de profundas e interdisciplinares reflexiones, del cual la redacción siguiente son unas modestas e insignificantes gotas de agua.

    This article is my contribution to the invitation of paying tribute to the deceased directors of the journal. The validity of social problems in the world, with particular severity in these times, calls, at least, for reviewing our behavior: Are we responding in a consistent manner to the evangelizing task that urges us for the fact of being Christians. We have a treasure for this: the Social Doctrine of the Church. These pages intend to recall, summarize and present the nature, meaning and scope of teachings whose coating of profound humanity and scientific rigor help to offer a specific horizon of response in strict coherence with the evangelical message. The foregoing is intended to complete with the exposition of a series of arguments that reason before anyone, why the Church has to deal with the varied and complex issues of a social nature, and obviously, act coherently with its mission.

    Undoubtedly, reference is made to the most representative documents that constitute its doctrinal «corpus», providing many texts, with the sincere desire to bring the reader as close as possible to the source from which masterfully elaborated teachings flow and, unfortunately, for many unknown totally or partially.

    Hopefully, and it turns out to be a special claim, the recommended calm reading of these pages motivates to expand knowledge and deepen in an ocean of profound and interdisciplinary reflections, of which the following writing is a modest and insignificant drop of water.
