Resumen de La justicia juvenil en Cataluña: Características generales y funcionamiento

  • Juvenile Justice in Catalonia is a public service delivered by the Generalitat de Catalunya and is responsible for managing all the individual and social problems related to juvenile delinquency. It has always distinguished itself from its constitution by planning policy, innovation and upgrading its services. This service is constantly changing, on international and national level as well, due to legal changes and social demands, advances in crimonology, in order to improve the efficiency of their action. Its main task is to prevent and refrained the criminal career in children and young offenders. This paper will present the main characteristics and properties of the juvenile justice system, which has as a primary task to avoid the continuous course of delinquency in minors and adolescents, which mostly behave sporadically in antisocial ways. This paper will show numbers of the actual juvenile delinquence rate of Catalonia, the ressources of which the administration disposes, and the structure of the services and programs offered. By the presentation of a "map" about the journey of juvenile deliquents in the juvenile justice system of Catalonia, we aim to represent appropriately the basic performance and the current state of reality in Catalonia.
