The results here presented suggest an important presence of paternal effects that may be explained under sire imprinted effects. Moreover, models that do not consider paternal effects report a relevant overestimation of genetic variances and a strong negative correlation between direct and maternal genetic effects. These phenomena can be explained as a consequence of the redistribution of the paternal variance over the effects included in the model of analysis.
