Throughout the centuries, agriculture has been the basis of socio-economic development in Calahorra, and the water from both the rivers Ebro and Cidacos has been essential for cultivating land that would have otherwise remained dry, limiting production and therefore profitability. The document that we present in this article is interesting because it offers a highly detailed account of the irrigation network in 1903, which was then essentially structured as it is today, based on the main irrigation system around three large areas: Ribera, Molinos and Sorbán and a smaller area around the vicinity of la Isla. In addition, the document authored by Ramón Subirán y López de Baró provides important information on the recent toponymy of the municipality of Calahorra and a rich vocabulary related to water management.
