Resumen de Actitudes críticas y «conciencia social» entre los estudiantes durante el franquismo (c. 1950-c. 1975)

El objetivo del artículo es reflexionar de forma panorámica sobre el creciente avance de las actitudes críticas entre los estudiantes españoles a partir de los años cincuenta, con su consiguiente distanciamiento de la dictadura franquista. Se prioriza el análisis de testimonios retrospectivos de universitarios, si bien estos serán contrastados con otras fuentes, como las encuestas o los informes oficiales y diplomáticos. Después de constatar el alcance y límites de la extensión de las actitudes críticas entre la juventud estudiante de los años cincuenta, sesenta y setenta, se estudian diversas dimensiones y factores que contribuyen a explicarlo. Entre otras conclusiones, se enfatiza que el cambio actitudinal iba mucho más allá de la demanda de mayores libertades políticas, asociándose también con transformaciones morales y culturales, así como con el desarrollo de una «conciencia social» ante las desigualdades y problemáticas socioeconómicas.

The article seeks to offer a panoramic perspective of the advance in critical attitudes among Spanish students as of the nineteen fifties, with their consequent distancing from Franco’s dictatorship. The main focus is on analysing the retrospective testimonies of university students, contrasting these with other sources, such as surveys or official and diplomatic reports. After considering the extent and limits of critical attitudes among the student youth of the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, the article examines various dimensions and factors that help to explain these. Among other conclusions, I emphasize that attitudinal change went far beyond the demand for greater political freedoms to include moral and cultural transformations, as well as the development of a «social conscience» with regard to inequalities and socio-economic problems.
