    El artículo intenta mostrar que el conocimiento del trasfondo cultural –los cuentos populares– y de la retórica antigua –las chreiai– es necesario para no malinterpretar la parábola del rico y Lázaro. Pero también es decisivo proceder con el análisis narrativo, es decir, identificar las tramas en funcionamiento, ver también cómo se construyen gradualmente los personajes, determinar cómo se organizan los diferentes temas –la cuestión social de la pobreza y la riqueza, la inversión de los destinos, la vida en el más allá, la resurrección, la conversión– y cuál regula los demás. Siendo respetadas las condiciones de una hermenéutica sana, entonces es posible ver lo que la parábola nos dice de la salvación que podemos esperar.

    The article aims at showing that knowledge of the cultural milieu – folk tales – and of ancient rhetoric – the chreiai – is necessary in order not to misinterpret the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. But it is also decisive to proceed with narrative analysis, in other words to identify the plots at work, to see also how the characters are gradually built, to determine how the different themes are organized – the social question of poverty and wealth, the reversal of destinies, the afterlife, resurrection, conversion – and which one rules the others. The conditions of an accurate hermeneutic being respected, it is then possible to see what the parable tells us of the salvation we can hope for.
