Las benzodiacepinas son medicamentos psicotrópicos y sintéticos, usados en medicina para tratar problemas de ansiedad como el trastorno de ansiedad, el estrés o el insomnio. También se utilizan como relajante muscular.
Los medicamentos psicotrópicos son utilizados para el tratamiento de alteraciones psiquiátricas o neurológicas. Y tienen efecto sedante, hipnótico, ansiolítico, miorrelajante y anticonvulsivo, para la terapia de la ansiedad, la abstinencia alcohólica, el insomnio u otros estados afectivos. Así como las epilepsias y el tratamiento de espasmos musculares. Por mencionar alguno de ellos, tenemos los del grupo de las benzodiacepinas entre los que se encuentra el conocido diazepam.
Los psicótropos están regulados por el Convenio Internacional de Viena de 1971. También por el Real Decreto 2829/1977 de 6 de octubre, que lo adapta a la legislación española y su dispensación es mucho más estricta y está más controlada que la de otros medicamentos. Por todo ello se debe de cumplir con los siguientes requisitos:
En la receta sólo puede aparecer dicho psicótropo sin ningún otro medicamento.
Se dispensa un envase por receta.
El farmacéutico custodia la receta anotando el DNI de la persona que recoge el medicamento y lo anota en el libro recetario digital o en el físico (de papel). Dicha documentación debe de estar archivada durante dos años.

Psychotropic drugs are chemical substances that act on the central nervous system. They either excite or depress the central nervous system. In addition, psychotropics produce temporary changes in perception, behavior, mood and consciousness.
Psychotropics are regulated by the Vienna International Convention of 1971. Also, by Royal Decree 2829/1977 of 6 October, which adapts it to Spanish legislation and its dispensation is much stricter and more controlled than that of other medicines. Therefore, the following requirements must be met:
Only this psychotropic drug may appear on the prescription without any other medicine.
Only one pack per prescription is dispensed.
The pharmacist keeps a record of the prescription with the ID of the person who picks up the medicine and writes it down in the digital or physical (paper) prescription book. This documentation must be kept on file for two years.
